Mr. Callahan, who is 94 years old, is always experimenting. ~He has an off-label use for hair loss medicines. He claims that using one makes him see better. ~I asked him at our support group meeting how that is so, and he said that he didn't know, and that his doctor didn't know, but now he does not even need to wear glasses. ~That was great, I thought. ~I don't wear glasses anymore, but I do wear contacts, and I'm a bit sick of them too. ~Mr. Callahan proved he can see well. We looked across the room to a poster and he read all the fine print. ~I could barely see the large print, and that was with my contacts in. ~Everybody was amazed and were curious as to the medication and how he was using it. ~Just before we could get that information out of him, the program director came in and we had to get down to business. ~She passed out a number of copies on things, and I noticed that Mr. Callahan didn't need reading glasses either. ~This guy is a fountain of youth miracle. ~He can hear well, see well, walks or runs 3 miles daily, does weights, and practices Tai Chi daily. ~I'm amazed. ~Still, I did want to find out what medicine he was using and how it makes him see better when it is for something totally different. ~I waited until after the meeting, but I got sidetracked talking to somebody else, so I never did find out.
