Disaster recovery can mean many things. It depends on what you apply it to. In the case of work it means not so much what might happened to the building or assets, but what could happen if we loose our data bank. I feel we have to take some immediate steps to protect what we are doing and have done. It's all soft dollars, but if you attached a dollar figure to all the time and effort that goes into customer profiling, I think that you would find that it is one of the biggest investments that we have. Just think of all the information that comes into to the POS terminals. How much capital did we outlay for those? Plenty. And then think of what happens on the back end, with additions to customer files that are done both manually and by computer. Either way, you are talking a huge investment that is really the bedrock of what keeps this company running. Imagine if it were all lost tomorrow? What would or could we count on; Current customers coming into the stores? Yes, but our direct marketing program, which has brought in over 40 percent of revenue in the last 5 years would be gone. Can we keep the business running on just 60 percent? I don't think so, and neither does the boss. He wants a full report on what we should do to make sure we never get to this point.
