If you ever have to seriously consider filing for bankruptcy, you had better take the decision to do so very seriously. Look up as much as possible on the Internet. Search as much as you can about different ways to repay your debt. You may notice that many people online write about how unhappy they are that they filed for personal bankruptcy. Use the Internet to your advantage, it offers many tools to carry you through rough times. A personal bankruptcy filing attached to your credit report will destroy your chances of doing many things, and it will affect every single aspect of your financial life for many years to come. Filing for bankruptcy is not something you should do just to get out of paying back a few debts you decided to blow off. You could do this, but later on down the line you will regret the decision to treat bankruptcy laws like your own personal get-out-of-debt-free card. Even if you have to let a credit card or two have a bunch of late reports on it, that is better than your credit report telling any possible creditors that there’s the chance of you blowing off your debt altogether. Some people let their debt get so out of control that they are forced into bankruptcy by the court and their creditors. I don’t know for sure since I never experienced it, but I can’t imagine being forced to give up everything, which is why I very much look forward to the day when I’m completely debt-free.
